There is no monopoly. There are only priorities. The laws of physics are the same for everyone. Companies will keep secrets from the competition but often two companies discover the same thing independently.
Japan did well because they focused on quality. The Japanese could build better and cheaper TVs and stereos. Japanese cars were often better than American made cars.

China is one of the few countries that have landed a space craft on the moon. China has technology. Why hasn’t England, France or Germany landed a space craft on the moon? I am sure they have the technology but landing on the moon is not a priority.
