Some servo drives accept commands where a master controller downloads a position, velocity, acceleration and decelerations but EtherCat and similar bus systems need to have small packets to reduce Ethernet traffic. EtherCat uses Can Open packets which are only 8 bytes long and contain only one value which is usually a position. Many buses are the same even though the user issues a motion command of position, velocity, acceleration and deceleration. The master computer computes the next position for the motion controller and sends it.
Rockwell MAM commands do not send velocities, accelerations, and decelerations. The PLC only sends positions.
